Hey guys, im interested in buying the "All Balls" Steering Stem upgrade kit for the '84 Honda VF500F Interceptor. I was just wondering if anybody knows what the updated torque spec and procedure would be or does it use the same factory torque specs? If so, what would that be? Ive done a couple quick searches but turned up nothing. If someone could at least point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

My search came up with this from the 3rd one down:

You dont want to use the factory torque specs. You want about a 7 lb pull on the handle bars. Not too tight or too loose. If you got strong hands then your probably good at that after setting in the bearings. If your not sure give about another 1/4 turn with your wrench or screwdriver tighter and check the feel. Thanks Brian, I saw that 4th gen how to, but i wasnt sure if it was applicable to the earlier bikes or not? I also was just curious if there was a spec available or not for the All Balls bearings but i guess its kind of just a feel and go type deal. Thanks :)

    HERE i go again......

DO you really want to use cheap, low end Chinese bearings in your quality Japanese bike??

"Quality Control" is a concept the Chinese are just starting on.

It's a light bike so just stick with Honda OEM ....because tapered bearing are better on generally heavier bikes.

The biggest problem with sticking with OE bearings is the cost and availability! They seem to be hard to get your hands on and if you do find them they are twice the cost of the aftermarket ones?
