So I was browsing for an RSV4 system and happened to come across this soon to be released item. Not perfect in my opinion, but a qauntum leap from the catastropy that is the OEM can. Hope it hasn't been posted already.

Edit: The can has become available since my initial post. Thanks to beterace for pointing out that the page now shows Dyno curves, as well as an install pic with hardbags.

Well, that's certainly a step in the right direction. Too bad the rest of the bike is vomit inducing ugly.

    KC-10 FE out...

Still don't like that exhaust. I saw one on youtube that looked better... I like aftermarket exhausts that look aftermarket...not too polished...

What I would really like to see is a manufactorer design a system that comes up the back of the fairing with the can higher and following the angle of the lower part of the rear cowling. Something to show off that SSSA. I know that would require the removal of the passenger pegs, which is fine with me and probably many others. I have always limented the fact that the BMW K1300s never showed that gorgeous swingarm, now the same with the VFR 12. If nothing else though, the Akrapovic should definately uncork the sound of that engine, which isn't sounding very V4ish with the OEM can.

It definitely looks better than stock. I too would like to see a higher mount exhaust. Also, they have a couple of pictures of the bike with the hard bags. The rear end of that bike looks naked without them. Like it's competition, it should have come with the bags.

I like that slightly higher position myself. Like the Akrapovic though, it still requires the rear pegs to be in place as a mounting point. I'm beggining to wish that someone would just fab a mid-pipe that would bring the VFR back to an undertail design, there's gotta be a way. Either that, or a very short GP style chimney. Alah CBR 1000.

whats with the crater in the torque curve at 3000rpm? sounds like a powercommander V would be a better mod

The Laser doesn't look bad, but if memory serves, Laser is no longer available to those of us in the U.S.

I hadn't seen that yet. Maybe honda had some left over 6 gen ECU's that they've passed onto the 7g. If it's anything like the 6 gen mappig, and it looks like it is, then yep, another VFR that needs a power commander. These days most bikes do, IMO.

Wow, that is a crater. I know that the 7 gens didn't actually receive 6 gen ECU's but the curves are eerily similiar. I'm somewhat suprised that Akrapovic wouldn't want to show the curves with some sort of remap. That hole should be easily filled with a tune.

If the hole is a result of a lean spot in the a/f map then it will be easy to tune out... OTOH if it's from the digital throttle mapping it may be a bit tricky.

I finally had a chance to see the 1200 at my dealer this weekend. I have to admit, it looked a lot better in person than in photos. Still think the can has to go, but overall, I was pretty impressed.

But to stay on topic, I noticed it had one of those exhaust flaps that opens up somewhere around 4000-5000 rpm.

I guess the dyno results above kind of speak for themselves, but how does one deal with eliminating that exhaust flap without necessarily affecting performance? Isn't that flap designed to help increase low RPM torque (via back pressure)?

Midias just permanently opened the flap in his can. That sounds bad, sorry midias. He hadn't had enough time with it to give any benefits, but I'm sure he's aware of what the positives/negatives are supposed to be.

    LMAO, I'm seriously in tears.

The mags dyno test also show the HP/torque dip at 3500 RPM. It's more obvious on paper than the seat of the pants, but I base that on a 20 mile test ride. How about some replies from the owners? Is the dyno dip noticeable to you?

The omnly power dip I notice is low RPMs in second and that is hondas design a power commander will fix that. I just don't think honda gives you full power under 5k in second.

I actually closed it again. There may have been a small difference at low RPM with a little more power around 4 to 5k rpm but I liked it better with regular operation. Honestly this thing has so much power I have no complaints it pulls hard at all rpms and brings you way above legal speeds well before you know what is happening.
