    Hi all,

I wanted to share my findings on the compatibility between the velocity stacks of 98-99 and 00-01, in case someone in the future is facing the same question as I did - given that some OEM parts start to go out of stock...

I was forced to destroy 2 of the velocity stacks due to stuck screws (tried everything...) during removal of the airbox on my just-acquired 99.

The part # for the velocity stack is 17237-MBG-000 for 98-99, but that is no longer available. Velocity stacks for 00-01 with part # 17237-MBG-D00 are available, as # 17237-MCW-D00 (6th gen, apparently identical to the 00-01 stack). I took my chance hoping that the 00-01 stack is similar enough to fit the 99. Turns out that it is similar enough, there will be no issues in fitment.

The slots on the bottom part (the purpose of which escapes me) are different, but those don't affect the fitment. The inner diameter on the newer stack seems to me just slightly larger (less than 1 mm), might have to do with the updated tuning of the engine on 00-01.

Hope this helps someone wondering about the differences. And if someone has more info on reasons for those minute differences, I'd love to hear about them!

I would expect the slots to be a Poka-yoke for assembly. Very Honda-esque. But I don't own that Gen, nor have I experimented switching around v-stacks.
