Does anyone remove what I believe is the "Air Guide" from the swing arm to make lubing the chain easier? 2007 800 RWB.

I suppose you could if you wanted to Doug.

I never do,never found it to be in the way.

I do remove mine every now and again to clean the chain gak off it though.

wow, now that's an interesting way to ask a question! I never take it off myself unless I'm doing major chain work. Hell, I'm doing good if I even remember to lube the chain so...

My ride came with a LoobMan auto-lube setup and I didn't even know there is supposed to be an "air guide" on there. In other words, I don't have one on my bike.

What it is is a shark guard. Keeps fingers and toes from getting eaten by the chain and rear sprocket should you and your bike ever take a tumble. There are aftermarket ones out there that look much nicer.

Ahhh...that makes sense... I never thought much about it, but I can see how that would help. Getting your toes and or fingers pulled through something spinning like that must hurt pretty bad.

Wonder if anyone around here can confirm or deny.

Didn't someone post a link about a pinhead that took off the tips of all his fingers while lubing his chain?

It should be called an "airhead guard" for all the dipshits that think they can stall the bike with their digits, present members with superchargers not included..................

Oops, suppose I should answer the OP's query, nope, only remove mine when I'm replacing the chain or doing other major work and it needs a good scraping to remove the built up crapola.
