Will I need to remove the tank or can I just lift the tank from the seat side and replace the filter?

The back of the tank is on a hinge, you just remove the front 8mm bolts. Then thread one back in after you lift the tank up. Then use the spanner and extension in the tool kit to prop it up. The tool kit screw driver will let you reach all the filter box screws.

Yup as Durk said.......you might want to remove the cable holding the tank so yo can lift the tank up higher.

I suggest taking a pic of how the vent hose goes, or at least make a mental note so that you can route it properly when you put the hoses back on and put the tank down. I had a bit of trouble with getting it right when I lifted the tank to check the air filter.

Also, a magnetic screwdriver is nice, as I dropped a few of the air box screws a few time which was a pain.
