Hey out there, I own a 2000 vfr800. I just purchased a K&N air filter. Is there any way to improve the air flow to the air box without remapping. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron
Hey ron, I've got a'99 (see details below) and I was told it's a bad idea to mess w/ the airbox. Here's a link where removing the 'snorkel' is discussed http://www.crazyass.ca/vfr/vfr_hints.htm#Snorkel RF
If you open up the inlet where the snorkel was you gain about 1hp up top.If you are keen, fit a manometer to the airbox and see how much vacuum is created whilst revving out(preferably on a dyno).Try shimming up the front of the tank first to se if ther is a gain. Then try and open up the snorkel inlet.I have tried disconnecting the flapper valve. This makes the bike louder on trailing throttle and more abrupt on off to on throttle settings.Worse when feeding throttle out of corners.
