    Hey guys,

Been scouring the internet looking for some sort of decent slip on to replace my stock pipes. Looking for more of an updated look to my 'Ceptor. I really looked but may not be looking in all the right places... any ideas?

    Alex

I use a set of Yoshi's, but it is a whole system which was on the bike when I got it. So, I'm not sure where the PO got it. Anyway, here is what they look like.

You may be hard pressed to find an aftermarket set. Kerker (or whoever owns them now) may still make a set. But you may only be left with scouring ebay or cutting the cans off your headers and getting a pair that will fit the pipe. When I had my 93, I baught a used aftermarket D & D and had an exhaust shop make the mid pipe for me. The mounting points were otherwise the same. Good luck in finding an exhaust

Thanks for the advice. I have spent literally days scouring the internet looking for any type of slip on from any manufacturer, including Cobra and Yoshi. I can't believe I have come up totally empty. There's nothing out there. Maybe I have to just buy something (anything) and heavily modify them?

With the wealth of knowledge on this site, is there anyone who can offer a suggestion for me? I have paid my dues and looked and looked and looked...

I promise to get off this subject too. I know most of you are tired of my whining by now.

I am trying to modify this bike a little and get as close to an updated super bike look as possible and to make it my own.... The single slip-on on the one side looks best to me...

    I had a crazy idea.

What if I removed one of the stock mufflers, then re-routed that side of the exhaust collector with the other side and fabricated a pipe to any aftermarket muffler I wanted?

Or will that just hose everything up?

You can see I am not willing to take "no" for an answer. HAHAHA

Sounds like a TON of work to move the exhaust over to one side. I'd measure the pipes, then buy a set of slip-ons with the same (or close as possible) size pipe. www.denniskirk.com has a few slip-ons which might work.

Sorry to say, but I think that you are going to have to come to grips with the fact that exhaust for a 25 year old bike is not going to be easy to come by. Figure they made 5000-6000 of your year/model bike, and after 20 years, how many people are still going to be buying the exhaust.....enough for it to be cost effective to even produce them? I went thru the same thing on my 1987 FZR1000, and one of the only makers of an exhaust for it was vance & hines, only one model. It sucked, but it was a fact of life. The people that do have any sort of exhaust for your bike will be holding on to it with a death grip because they know nothing else can be bought.

So your options are most likely to hope that someone pops one up on e-bay, or someone on here sells one, or your best option (like was stated) might be to fabricate something yourself by cutting off the silencers, and welding something else on.

If your headpipes and collector box are in good shape, you could always have a couple of short link pipes fabricated and fit (your favorite brand) of aftermarket cans, one on either side.

Most aftermarket cans have 2" inlets, and the outlets on your stock collector boxes are likely 1.5-1.75" (guessing) so you'd have to adapt up.

Here's the bottom line - nobody makes performance exhausts anymore. In fact, they haven't been available for several years now. The dealer stock was depleted not long afterwards and now the best you can hope for is a random NOS set or good used parts.

veefer800canuck makes the best suggestion. VTR pipes are a fairly easy fit as are others (make sure they are a dual pipe set). When it comes to older bikes you can't always just order parts, you have to be more creative some times!

Rob, I wonder what he's charging for something like that? Not that I want a drag pipe...
