    Greetings Fellow VFR-ers,

    Hub a duh.
    Hub a duh.

My beloved 91 VFR 750F (had for 6+ years now) is sick.
Just took it out of 9 months storage.
Almost-new battery was too low to start.
Jumped via my Jeep. Started, no problem (LOVE that about VFRs!)
Drove home... died after 2 miles.
    Took battery home.
Hooked up to "smart" charger/tester - it said "replace or service battery".
Bought a new, fully-charged battery from local battery shop.
    Installed.
Drove bike on wonderful 12 mile jaunt through local villages.
At intersection about 7 miles from home... engine died.
    :-|
SOME juice still in battery - but NOT enough to turn it over.
Took battery home to charge overnight.
Called local Honda dealership (we all trust so very very few of them).
They (the only guy I trust) said might NOT be alternator/stator, but maybe (cheaper) power regulator.

    NEED HELP from fellow VFR-ers!

HOW best to diagnose a battery which WON'T charge?

    Help help help.

    Cheers,
    -Mark

Sound's like another one ... at least Scub's given you pointers of where to look - check the fuses by the battery first - but also note there have been issues with a hidden orange connector (its taped up within the loom) - see Tinks post/photos in this thread

Its been said loads of time - it seems similar gremlins have been attacking a lot of vfrs lately so can the Mods create a HELP thread where really usueful stuff can be posted for easy reference?

It never makes sense to change a battery without testing the charging system at the same time.

A non-functioning charging system will kill battery #1, so some riders just plop in battery #2, which promptly fails because it's getting NO CHARGE !!
