Adeyren, I purchased a PC V for my 1999. It is officially not supported. We also had trouble setting it up. We are supposed to be able to take the values from a PCIII map and copy them into a version V map. Maybe our process was not good but we could not save a map after doing the simple Windows copy/paste with the values. Just got some crazy error. Even though we were told to do this by Dynojet I have a feeling the range of values actually differ between devices, but I could very well be wrong. Again be aware Dynojet said they will not support this setup.

I did get the V knowing that it is newer electronics, it has a smaller footprint, and the capability for Autotune. For Autotune we must add an O2 sensor to the header. So far it is running on a Gen 7 map. I may get Autotune next year, not sure. Be aware there is some risk in getting this to work correctly but the harness is the exact same connection. Also the bike design changed after 5th gen which results in the PCV cable length being barely long enough to put the device under the seat. My mechanic routed the harness and he said the V harness was even slightly shorter than the III, and both were "too short".

I recommend getting this item from a reputable dealer with a good return policy. There is too much of these resellers selling returned electronics which may have been incorrectly used...plug it in and nothing happens. I just had that with a battery tender from Amazon, which RUINED my battery. (Did get full credit and a credit for the battery, which was nice.)

I was wondering whether you could run a P/C V on a 5th gen as some point next year i want to run a quickshifter on her. According to Dynojet their quickshifter will only run on a P/C V. I cant find any other shifter that run on the 5th gen.Think i will give our local certified Dynojet guy and ask him. I was going to install the P/C myself then get him to map it on the dyno. As for purchasing one i will take your advice. P/Cs over your side are approx $160 cheaper than over here. We pay enough tax over here as it is. ie fuel over here now is approx $9 a gallon and thats cheap as oil has dropped. We were paying nearly $10 a gallon last year. Rant over.

Well at least they didn't ask for your SS # and bank details, followed by stating the part would be shipping from Nigeria.

Power commander offers a stand alone quick shifter. so if you can find a pc3 for cheap and then get the stand alone shifter it might be worth it.

Thanks again f3, gets a bit confusing on the Dyno pages for a (old)noob like me! All i want it for is a few trackdays next year and of course the cool factor! Seriously, people say why dont i get a proper sportsbike, but you just cant beat that gorgeous V4 sound plus its all round performance. Only had her six months after 32 yrs away from bikes but am totally hooked. Thank god for this forum. Its been really helpful.
