So as not to hijack the R3 thread too badly, I thought I'd start a thread here just dedicated to Randy's Vegas visit. He and Long arrived yesterday afternoon, and when I pulled into my development, they were parked right there instead of by my house. I found out that Randy's battery died so Long and I push started him to get him to my house. We got in and he made very fast friends with my cockatiel, Lucky. My cockatoo, Coconut jealously watched him from the safety of her perch above his head.

Invited some of my local VFR friends, who are also part of this forum to come say hi. Here's Long checking out Bob's bike (BTBrain (or something like that)).

Later on, I went to pickup Dave (Y2KViffer) and his girlfriend Tammy from their hotel and brought them over to meet everyone, and Nick came over as well. I can't remember Nick's name on here. In this pic, left to right are Long, Dave, Nick and Randy.

This morning, Randy, Long and I went for some Vietnamese Coffee. Say the name of THAT restaurant 5 times fast... what do you get? Hmmmmmm....

After coffee, I took them to the Ridenow Powersports so Randy could get a new battery. Here are Long and Randy trying to figure out where the heck the battery is...

We then went to Cycle Gear so Long could get some CO2 cartridges in case of a flat on his way home and on the way to Cycle Gear, Randy's bike died again... man, Long and I got some good exercise today push-starting Randy whenever we stopped!! Oh and I almost forgot, on the way from coffee to the RidNow, we stopped so Randy could get his picture taken in front of our famous sign... We just pulled our bikes up and Long took a pic of me and Randy...

We ended up taking Randy's bike to Racer's Edge to get worked on. They are now charging the battery and will have a good look at it on Monday. Hopefully they will find a small short somewhere and nothing too costly or time consuming. Long is on his way home now, and Randy I will hit the Vegas strip later tonight... stay tuned for more news of a Canadian in Vegas...

The strip was great. Officially, I am no longer a Vegas Virgin. Definately going to bring the wife here . She has said she doesn't want to go to Vegas but by the power invested in me by some cheap hooker on a side street, I can go ahead and book any seat sale that suits my agenda.

We came by some Dumpy restaurant called the Cheeze Cake Factory. Their food suct so naturally I did not eat mine.

Will see what tomorrow holds out for us.

Okay, how'd you know Vodka was my drink?!

Here's a small update from last night. We got out to the strip a little later than I wanted to but we hit Bellagio first and watched the dancing fountain show. I think Randy may have actually taken a couple pics of the fountains in action.

Then, he bought a little something for the wifey. He was trying to count in American-ese, and kept getting confused. You can see the lady with the big sunflower on her chest behind the counter was ready to count the money for him... LOL!!

We walked through a few of the casinos and when he saw the Cheesecake Factory at Caesar's he started drooling, so we had to go in and have some cheesecake... okay twist my arm... here's Randy enjoying some strawberry cheesecake. I know it was terrible but he was doing his best to be polite and eat it!!

Later, we noticed a camera guy with some cops so we watched what they were doing. They walked towards a tourist who was doing pull-ups on some scaffolding that was put up on the sidewalk, and they told him to stop and get down. He stopped, but wouldn't get down, just looking at the cop. The cop grabbed hold of his shorts and pulled and Randy and I got a nice shot of "Tourist Crack". Finally after a few times asking nicely, the guy let go of the scaffolding and his feet touched the ground. Never a dull moment.

Today we are going to do the "Dam Tour". Stay tuned!

Cool. Too bad I wasn't invited. ;) Too busy right now anyway. Miss my old job with 4 days off a week. :( Oh well. I'll see you guys in a couple weeks. Oh, about the battery thing...did you check the R/R? I know it's a 6th gen, but it wouldn't hurt to check and make sure that thing is recharging like it's sposed to...

Thanks Reg. We did discuss that. Also maybe a direct short on my after market direct to battery things were considered. The rectifier has been replaced some time ago though. Rather that spend far too much valuable time dicking with this and replacing things that may not need re-placeing, I decided to take it into someone who knows what they are doing is the answer so that I can get out on the road again. Should here something by mid day tomorrow. The tech at Racer's Edge is thinking it may be the stator. Idon't regret getting the battery though and finding it was not the problem. The exsisting battery is original so it is closing in on 6 years old in operation, and almost 93,000 miles. Borrowed time.

So we're back from another day of adventures... I think Randy's bike really doesn't have any problems... I think he just made it up so he'd have an excuse to be stranded in Vegas.... Randy, all you had to do is ask.... I told you that you could stay as long as you wanted... ;-)

We went to the Dam first, and it was my first time to the new overpass bridge as a pedestrian. It was very cool and a different perspective on the dam.

We then drove down to the dam itself and took the Dam Tour

Randy took quite a few pictures from inside so maybe if you're nice he will share them with you...

We had to head back to my place after the tour so I could accept a few birds to watch for a few days. We got some subs on the way home and ate, then I took Randy to Red Rock Canyon. On the way back we stopped at Fremont Street.

I couldn't believe what a warm reception we had!! It was as if everyone was waiting for the Prime Minister!! They all stopped and watched as Randy walked up, and took pictures of him. I was in such awe, I felt like a celebrity myself. Alas, I was just another picture taker.

We enjoyed walking, talking, mingling with the local "villagers", shopping.... and as we got to the end, we realized that... Vegas now has its own Heart Attack Grill!!! Apparently it just opened in October!! Neither one of us weighs enough to eat for free, but I guess it's something to shoot for!!

Randy then made some new friends and got the biggest smile I've ever seen on him in my life. They seemed to be having such a great time, so I left him to go into the "Whiskey Licker Bar" and came home. If anyone sees him, please give him my address so he can get back.
