I bought some cheap driving lights from Walmart and mounted them on my '95 VFR750. I was originally planning on mounting them somewhere above the front fender, but on closer inspection it looked like they'd be crushed if the forks were fully compressed. So I ended up mounting them below the turn signals. First I took a piece of steel and bent it so that when mounted on the fairing, it would leave a horizontal surface I could bolt the light to: I bought some drawer liner from Harbor Freight to put between the metal parts and the fairings (visible in the second picture). After adding the brackets, the standard bracket could just bolt straight to it after drilling a couple holes. One more hole was drilled in the fairing for the wires to pass through (later added some plastic sheathing around the wires). I tapped into a wire from the fuse box to draw power only when the ignition is on. I tapped in before the fuse, and used the inline fuse that came with the lights. The switch is mounted in the fairing to the left of the instrument panel, and lights up when turned on. And turned on for the first time: I don't intend to use them around other traffic, so confusion due to the proximity to the turn signals should not be a problem. Hopefully I'll have a chance to play with them this weekend and get them aimed properly.
