Added another VFR to the garage - 400R

Yep, pulled the trigger and added a VFR 400R (NC24) to the garage. Brought her home through rain and snow in April. What an awesome ride. I'll be giving it some TLC as it needs a few cosmetics, but overall it is great shape with only 34,000 KMs on the clock. Many many thanks to my good friend John Hilmer for the insights he has supplied regarding this bike and for all his work on it as he was the PO who got it titled in the USA.


It has made things a bit crowded in the garage: (That's the VFR700 on the table lift in the back)

 

WOW, nice find!!! I didn't even know they made a VFR400. I used to live up in your area ( the first 25 years) I sure don't miss the snow....

 

Yes, as I understand it in 87 & 88 it (NC 24) was a Japan market only (86) and then the next year it was available in the UK as well. Then in 89 Honda came out with the NC 30 which was available in the European market. I'm certain someone here has much more information on this. I've been spending my time just going for rides and sourcing some of the parts I need since they have to come from the UK and many bike breakers there limit shipping to EU countries only. I've been successful in asking nice and getting things shipped here.

This one is a keeper. I'm usually of the mind that for the right price any of my vehicles go (Well except the Goldwing but only because my wife likes that one as it was purchased when she indicated "we need a comfy seat bike". but not this one. Too hard to find something that could possibly be as much fun to ride. Far out shines the Ducati Scrambler and that one brings on the grins.

 

the world needs more gear driven cam 400s. I still have a CB-1, somewhere.

Very cool bike, I have a friend that has one, Nice find and score, yea that's a keeper for sure, you lucky B.

 

It's incredible how modern this bike looks. Really paints a picture of sport bike history, and reveals that Honda literally invented the modern sportbike.

 

I'm now also looking for one to complement my wifes CBR400rr (NC29) - hopefully in the next month or so.... thanks for the pics

 

I expect you'll have good luck finding one as I have seen a number of them for sale in the UK. I'm looking for a tank as the one on the bike has some minor damage on it and the upper fairing as the PO I bought it from tipped it over in his truck and cracked a piece off the left side of the fairing. Hope to find everything in Rothmans colors so it may take a while. That's OK though as I am not in a great hurry. Keep us posted here.
