I was in a small accident a month ago (in the rian...I've since developed a new philosophy with riding in the rain) that left me with broken cowling (and other parts on the right side. I will need to remove the cowling (fix radiator, brake lever, turn signal on right-side-riding side) I WILL have exposed wires. My insurance only gave me so much (w/o totaling the bike...I kinda begged)

I want to know what others have done/reccomendations on what I should do to "dress" my cables that would normally be hidden. What dangers do I risk with the wires exposed to the elements, and is there a safety standard for HOW they are covered? My mechanic tells me it will be fine in weather, however, what do you think?

Thanks all...Ill post a pic tomorrow for reference.

You could allways try shrink wrap, but since they have been exposed to said elements just under the cowl, then I suspect they'll be just fine.

Getting a bit worried for a minute, saw the title "will ride naked for a while". Dont want to know the picture that poped into my head lol. Just thought, bloody ell must be hot over there.

To be honest, dont know what problems you will have. I ride all year round, and at times in realy heave snow and rain and the bike has been faultless. I was riding home from work at 02:30 in winter. My jacket and visor were frozen, and even the key had frozen in the ignition yet the bike ran without fault. Dont realy know what sort of impact removing the farings will have. Would imagine they would be reasonably well sealed.
