Abs doesn't work on the back brake, only when using the front lever. One save drop for Wolfee!

I thought abs worked when using the back brake-well no it doesn't, I almost had the back side out when stopping about two feet only my left foot kept me from falling. So when stopping with abs always use just the front lever, this would applies to trail braking also.:pout: So add one save to my six drops. Doing good this year no drops and one save.

Both in my 2003 manual and my 2014 manual it shows ABS modulators and speed sensors for both front and rear. In addition I have traction control on rear wheel as well of the 2014, which works well. Yours should have worked, I would have system checked, or you may have been going too slow for system to react.

Both wheels have sensors, my abs light goes out to show its working. it could be a flaw in the abs design. I know abs works when I use just the front lever-because I have tested it before -stops perfect. I was coming to a stop and I just used the back brake only-it slipped out fully-I sided sideways in the back at least two feet-abs did not work. I would guess I hit fresh oil patch or oil and water patch. if I used only front lever that slide won't have happened. I should contact Honda about this. You might be right something is not working, but does abs work when only using the back brake or does it only work when using front lever? That is the question? I do not have rear traction control. Only abs.:laser: I was going slow when this happened. Perhaps it takes a higher speed for it to go on in the rear-don't know,. My guess is I did find a Flaw in the abs-at slow speed it may not kick in when using the rear brake. this was slow enough for me to save a fall with my left foot.

    From the owners manual:

ABS cannot make up for road conditions, bad judgment, or improper operation of the brakes. It is still your responsibility to ride at reasonable speeds for weather, road surface, and traffic conditions, and to leave a margin of safety.

ABS does not function at low speeds (approximately 6 mph (10 km/h) or below).

No mention of ABS activating by rear or front brake only. Might be able to find something in the service manual.

No mention in manual about activation, however, since each each has a speed sensor, and a modulator, one would assume each is activated by it's own system.

I hit the back brake at around 6mph so I guess that's why the abs did not work, it is good to know it won't work at 6mph. I guess everything is normal, I just hit a nasty patch of oil with rain.
Bottom line don't just hit the back brake hard at low speed, abs does not work at 6mph. I would guess the front would not work either at 6mph.
