    Hi all,

My budget " get it on the road" VF500 F project is moving along well thanks to a lot of help from forum members. Valve clearances are now set correctly and my carbs are cleaned, bench synced, bench gasoline tested and ready to go on. (A special thanks to Kennybobby for idle mixture O rings!) My old rock hard rubber manifolds have been considerably softened by 12 hours in a 30% wintergreen oil, 70% xylene, but after 2 hours of struggling and liberal use of heat and KY lube (recommended on this site!) I still couldn't get them on and damaged one to the point of marginal usability.
I have done pretty extensive VFR world and Google searches and am pretty sure there are no new manifolds available but thought I would post this tonight in case someone knows of a source.
I'll soak my manifolds for another 12 hours and try again tomorrow, but I'm hoping to get new more flexible ones. I would definitely get used E Bay ones and try other softening methods before I'd resort to radiator hose. BTW I did try the trick of placing the rear manifolds cocked up on the head stubs but even that didn't work.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

    Jay
