So a guy at work brings me this old 86 kaw 454 LTD tandem twin. Told me it needed carb cleaning and he wanted it fixed up with relpacement parts oem if possible, fabricated if nessisary. He wants the stock lood as much ass possible. Me being me I say "Sure, bring it on over!" I't ait all that bad but finding parts is a bitch so far. The left side cover alone is gonna be $70 on e-bay and they are about the olny game going.

    That thing brings back memories.

My first bike was a 1980 Kawasaki 440LTD.

    ^^^^^

    Cool man!

Yeah, I picked it up off this old guy who had it for years and rode every Sunday he could till he almost hit a deer. His wife made him sell it.

$500 bucks and it was in cherry shape. I had more compliments on that bike than any other (which is only three) bike I've owned. Many good memories.

This is actually a prety cool bike. This is just gonna be restored but some of the bikes I have seen on the LTD 454 site are just sick. Boobers, Hardtails.... just sweet mods.

Well the carbs came off this weekend, between assembling a CBR and pulling a radiator out of the wife's GMC. They were just a BIT nasty inside.

Pulled the air box and replaced with an oil breather and 2 cone air cleaners.

Pulled the cans off to get a look at them. My friend wanted the baffles taken out. When I looked at them on the bike I ssaid "can't happen" but I decided to give taking some of the baffles out.

Had an 85 700 Vulcan twin with twin spark. Rode it until it burned more oil than it held in its pan. Same color as this one, same seat.
