    Hi folks.

I'm adding heli-bars to get a more comfortable riding position. I'd like a windscreen replacement or add-on that will raise the wind blast 8-12" over stock. I have not seen anything that will do this. Nothing from Givi, Puig, MRA, zero gravity.

Surely I'm not the only one that likes this bike but wants more wind protection. Please save the smart alek remarks (go buy a gold wing…).

What's the matter? You don't like Goldwings? Smart-ass remarks are part of almost every forum.
Anyways. Is there any way you can swap windscreens with someone for a day or two? This way you would really know which is the one for you without buying each one of them.

I think there are some dealers that will rent or lease Goldwings then buying one would not be necessary.

This windshield looks like it would work out:http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles...chable-hardtop-canopy-windshield-ar58826.html

With a few mods it looks like it would bolt right up to a VFR.

There are some really efficient looking windshields on google images. I even saw one that is opaque. Probably for blind guys who don't like air blowing in their faces when they ride.

A friend of mine has one of those adjustable wind deflectors on the top edge of his stock screen. Don't remember what brand name they are but he swears by it and it does not look gawdy either. I will see if I can find out what it is and post back.

When I met Mofo yesterday, he was showing me pics of his add-on deflector (as described above). Not sure of the brand, but he was praising it. Maybe he'll chime in and provide comments.

Welcome to the Lunacy that is VFRW!

I just got a text from my buddy. His is a whole windshield system. But I am sure somewhere you can get a bolt on. You just want to be careful bolting anything onto a windshield. Drill the holes very slowly and clean. I would also buy rubber washers for both sides of the holes to prevent the plastic from cracking. Or make them out of an old inner tube.

This is what works for me. Keep in mind that I'm 5'4" 28" inseam and 136 lbs of solid beauty.
Also, when I go riding for a day, I come back home with no less than 400 miles on my bike. Just a month ago I rode 600 miles in one day from my house in OC to Death Valley and back. Last July I rode 865 miles in one day from Rico Colorado to home.
Why am I throwing all this non-sense instead of getting to the point? Well, I would be able to ride the same mileage with the stock windscreen instead of the one I have, the difference would be I'd be so tired from the wind kicking my 0.2 Oz of brain all over, but thanks to this windscreen I can do it with so much more comfort.
With the spoiler in the highest setting, I get virtually no buffeting, but I do get more engine and wheel noise. If you have specific questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

    Go get a Goldwing now.

two months ago I rode my 06 from albuquerque NM to Malibu CA on a stock wind screen that I trimmed down to be flush with the body work. The stock hight created ALOT of buffeting on my helmet, trimming it down still protects my body, and leave my head to the open air which is smoother than the air at the top of the wind screen when it's the wrong hight.
Now on the way back I wanted to see if it could be better and got a double bubble in oxnard ca, I rode back to NM via las vegas nevada it was MUCH better, mild buffeting sitting strait up right on stock bars, i'm 5-7 200lbs (its muscle okay? >< ) in a mild tuck or laying on the tank bag there was ZERO wind. And I do mean zero, i could have lit a cigerette with a match. something to remember is when you're leaned forward like we are on sport touring bikes as opposed to harleys or gold wings, we put alot pressure on our wrists, some wind will actually take that weight off and help with fatigue, to a point.
the double bubble was enough for me. but if you still feel you need more zero gravity makes a touring wind screen that my friend uses on his zx10r, its TALL.. it looks totally rediculous but he sais it works great.
    just food for thought.

If it looks and sounds cool in German it probably does the same in Chinese. For that, Google Translator might be of some help. The one that's a bitch is translating anything from Canadian to English.

Laminar screen on VFR sept 10, 15 .jpg

    I recently bought a Laminar windscreen (http://www.laminarlip.com/vfr.php ) for my 2002 VFR800. I am 5'9'' 170 pounds and using heli bars.
I did notice some improvement but still had a fair amount of wind noise. Just a few days ago I glued it at the end of a zero gravity touring screen (not very effective by itself) as per the attached photo. I used some Velcro pieces but when the piece flew off on a bumpy road, I glued it with silicone. Now this arrangement really works: I need to only tuck in very slightly to be completely out of the wind. Most often just ride in a relaxed position.

I did order the MRA Vario Touring screen screen (http://www.motorcycleinnovations.ca/product_p/mra.01.035.vt.htm ) and will soon try it. I plan also to likely make a larger deflector & see how that pans out.

I'd recommend finding a European distributor and buying it from there. Twisted Throttle is a hideous monstrosity of a bad company.
