My old riding buddy sent me this scan of an old pic taken on his dad's driveway.

    Ah, the good old days...

Is that other bike an RZ350? If so, it had a twin cylinder 2-stroke motor. Boy do I miss the 2-strokes ..........

Yes. The two strokes were really popular up here in the mid-1980's. There were lots of RZ350's, RZ500's, RG500 Gamma's and the odd NS400.

If that RZ was the correct color, Yamaha yellow and black Kenny Roberts signature edition like mine was, this pic could have been taken in Longwood, Florida in 1985 or 86. Aahhhh the good old days is right.

Did you have a riding buddy with a VF500? That would be a cool coincidence. We only had the red and white up here. My buddy's RZ had larger bore carbs, SpecII pipes and a ton of other mods. It was dead even with my VF for the most part. Even doing top speed runs together, lol. 205 km/h I recall.

Yes indeed. He had an '84 the same color as above but all OE. My RZ had Toomey's, and Michelin Hi-Sports. He wrecked my RZ while I was in the basic training so he let me borrow the Interceptor while I was stationed at Ft. Gordon. Thats when I really got to ride it alot and have wanted one since then.

I now have a cherry '84 in the same color, all OE too.

I still have my 83 RZ350 and my 75 RD350. Both are in fairly sad condition after racing them for years. Last weekend I tore into my RD. It needs a new bore and the crank rebuilt. Lots of cleaning and cosmetics. My RZ is going to get cleaned up afterward.

Would love to see the hair style you had when that pic was snapped. I am guessing there was a mullet involved. :hippie:
