So today I am on my way home from school (working in the lab printing pictures) and I get ready to leave. I put on my helmet start the bike and hit the road. As I ride down to the freeway I let a few cars out and stp and let an older lady walk across the street, (no cross walk ) I got a hurry up honk from one guy but I didn't really care... so as I am on my way onto the freeway I get up to "cruising speed" and hit the end of the on ramp at about 70.... I look in my mirror and there is mr Po Po. I didn't think much of it until the lights came on.......So I give it a signal and pull off the freeway at the next off ramp ( I hate being stopped on the freeway) and find a driveway to pull in.... the officer approached me as I pulled off my helmet and started making small talk.. then he gets to the point. he said he saw the way that I let the lady cross the street and didn't fly past her at Mach 2 just so I could get through the light and he appreaciated the kind act. (he knows the old woman ) he just wanted to thank me for being a good citizen..With out missing a beat I said thanks and that most of the guys that ride VFRs' are as polite as I am....he just smiled and said uh huh, and told me to have a safe ride home.... the whole thing took less than five minutes... Its cool to have a positive moment for the sport bike community.....
That cop knows what I know. It is kinda mind cleansing to compliment someone while in that profession. Cause as you know, most people are very apprehensive when they get pulled over. I mean usually it means negative contact but it does not always have to be that way. Hell, he could be pulling you over to tell you your cheat'n wife is in jail and bail has been denied.
here, where I live, we use to say : intelligence and kindness are "mother and daughter". Ciao ragazzi ! Carmine
Nice to hear a positive story like that. Not all cops are bad. Then there's the ones from Chilliwack........................
Nice Crusty....I still say you should have pulled a Joey and ..... :vtr2: Maybe you will get a "get out of jail free card" now! Wouldn't it be nice if we could get "negative" points for good deeds. Like say for what you did....you get 1 negative point. So when you are caught speeding, you are back to zero......BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT I tell you. I just don't know how I live with my extreme brilliance sometimes..... :loco: :hangme:
I am not a lover of cops per say...but with everything that's been going on lately in conjuction with your story, I'm begining to re-think my position.
Awesome, I'm glad to hear that not all cops are bad. And yes I've noticed VFR riders are a more mature and polite bunch, except for NorcalBoy LOL
My buddy Bob could have used a good cop last Saturday. Instead he received an award for his excellent driving and it was Kelly's fault.
Its always great to hear about a good deed by a police officer. I am a former LEO and the only news about the police when I was one, was negitive. Thanks!!
