Ever offer to help a guy out with a simple bike related task and and up with a royal pain in the ass? I said I'd paint a 2001 TL1000R and this is the alleged motorcycle.... This is gonna take a little work.

She runs, rode it to my shop. He picked her up for $1000 this spring, I told him that he could drop it off to me and we would work something out. No dice. A buddy of his in his MC told him to take it to some outfit on the east side of Youngstown that had it for 3 months and let it roll out as she looks now. No coolant in the resevoir, bald rear tire, no horn, bent front rim (but it's chrome cat!), bent left clip on, trashed chain, non operable front turn signals and about a half millimeter of front brake pads. I did manage to cut the chicken strips in half on the 18 mile ride to the shop, stupid in retrospect after seeing how scary it really was. Plan on making her safe, fixing the bodywork, and painting her in a red black & green paint scheme to match his club colors. Little ghetto fabulous for my taste but she aint my bike. If was was mine it would roll out in the spring as a blacked out streetfighter.

    Move

You would be better off to close your shop, move to another state and change your name and gender.

    1 week in

A week into it, after work and this weekend. Lots of damage on this bike. The upper cowl is a mess, every time I patch it it cracks up again. placed a thin steel bar behind it and epoxied it in over the screen i tried first. Fender elinimination is done besides paint. Punched out the stock pipes that were tossed on this bike after the Two Bro's were thrashed out before i got it and polished them up a bit. Feft side is still in progress. Tank was a bear but is getting close to paint. I have a vertical plate mount built and in peices on my shop bench. couple wiring issues pending, the is no horn. Any one know what color wire are supposed to run Suzuki's horn?

I wouldn't do anymore than you have. After paint give it back to him and ask for carnal pleasures.

Well...I'ts pretty much built. Still needs paint and I'm on hold for some money from the owner. Got the body & tank repaired as well as I can w/o a base coat of color. Made the mods I planed on as well as a few more out of boredom more than anything else. Can't fire it up till I got the tank back on after paint so checking how she runs and remapping the power commander if nessisary is on hold. All body panels are in primer and I'm happy with the way it came out. I'll be happier when it's painted and burning pavement like she is ment to do! After paint I'll post on here. Hope the owner gets off his ass and gets on his bike.[IMG]http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww183/m21sws/v03.jpg[IMG]

looks good! The TLs are in some way a under rated bike... a buget liter bike with midrange torque, a feature we all love about our vfrs. Manufacturer build quality is not that great but the bike itself is not a bad design for what it is.
