Have a hard spot in chain, took it in to put a new chain and sprokets on. Machanic calls me back and says he still feels a sticky spot. He suggests opening and checking the swingarm, replacing the seals. Does this sound like this guys looking for extra cash? This is a old dealer that was just bought out by Action Motorsports. My bike has 20,000 miles and near perfect. Should anybody be opening that up at 20,000 miles, I know people with 100,000 miles plus that have never opened that up.
I'd probably go ahead and get the bike back and check it out first. Just tell him you have to let it go due to present lack of funds then check it out yourself. You should be able to tell if the problem that was in your chain is gone. That does sound unusual, though...
Having swingarm bushings/bearings in need of lubing will NOT cause a tight spot in any chain, certainly not a newly installed chain/sprocket set. It's not a bad idea to R&R the swingarm every few years to clean and lube all the bearings, including the ones in the rear drive cassette. I've done it twice on my bike in 7 years and 60,000km.
Rondix... this is what I was getting at in the other post. seems like something besides the chain is up, so you need to diagnose and eliminate things.
