I pulled the bike into the garage a few months ago and the next day I went to start it and it wouldnt start. The R/R has been replaced, the spark plugs are good and the fuel pump pumps plently of pressure. Any Ideas?
is it turning over ...... whats the volts on the battery? kill switch flipped to run, side stand switch functioning, neutral safety switch.... these need to be verified.
It cranks over, the battery has pleanty of power, the kill swith is in the right position... They all work. The fuel pump comes on and builds up pleanty of pressure. Every plug has fire, the cam sensor works, but for some reason the injectors wont fire. All of the fuses and grounds are good as well.
You mentioned you pulled it in a couple of months ago. If the fuel has been sitting that long, and if the bike sits a lot, have you put stabilizer in the fuel? The ethanol in fuel these days can phase separate in as little as 30 days and will probably do so in 90, precipitating out water which collects in the bottom of the tank. First thing might be to remove all the fuel from the tank and see if you have any water down in there, and if so get it all out and replace with known good fuel. I use Marine Grade Sta-bil (the green bottle) if I don't plan on riding for more than 2 weeks. If you have good fuel and you've verified all 4 injectors are not working then you'll have to boil it down to whether they're not getting any fuel (clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel pressure regulator, etc) or whether it's electrical. Probably the easiest thing to do on the electrical would be to get a "noid light" at an auto parts store, disconnect the harness at the injector and plug the light in to the harness in place of the injector. Turn the engine over and see if the light blinks. Rinse and repeat 3X on the rest. If no electrical pulses to the injectors, you'll probably need a service manual and a volt meter to trace down the problem. If that's good, then check for a twisted or kinked fuel line, good vacuum line connection to the FPR, clean fuel filter, etc. Best of luck.
did you try and start it with the kickstand up? maybe if that switch is bad and says that it is open, its not allowing any fuel injectors to pour gas into the motor? the manual says intake air leak, pinched or clogged fuel line, sticking fuel injector needle, clogged fuel filter, or faulty fuel pump operating system..... that probably doesn't help. But I'm sure I can scan any page you would like and send it to you if you didn't buy a honda vfr book.... this if for the 98-01 VFR800FI
