Did you actually pay for this bike or did it mysteriously disappear from someone's garage like the old 3rd Gen that I was stupid enough to leave in your garage?

Power Commander, new muffler, air filter, and remove PAIR system and air box flapper valve. De-linking is best done by replacing the front end with something else, gets you your suspension upgrade up front, too. Easiest rear shock upgrade is to buy a 929 shock, fab a longer mount and away you go. This is all stuff on my "Things to (eventually) do to my new toy" list that I've compiled since I bought the bike in July. Also, buy the VFRness and upgraded R/R from Wire My Bike and get those installed ASAP if it hasn't already been done. After that the next common mod I've found is to replace the shift star, detent arm, and arm spring with upgraded parts from Factory Pro. I've found the stock seat to be comfortable enough but a cushy Sargent is in my future.

    -Jake

EDIT: There's also an upgraded Fuel Pressure Regulator from Turbo City that comes highly recommended.

When we get together for a ride again I'll let you ride my bike so you can see how an improved suspension and going down 1 front tooth in the front sprocket feels!

I agree, linked brakes was a dumb idea in the first place. The PAIR modification is the same as other Honda models equipped with that system. There is a thin piece that looks like a minature reed valve from a 2-stroke engine. It's made so that it bends open one way, and the other way it shuts closed. You can flip this assembly over so that it does the opposite, thus blocking the unwated air flow. On my VTR I've used a sold dowel pin in place of the hollow one - that blocks it completely.

I think I have some TBR block off plates for the VTR. Does anyone know if they fit the VFR's too?

I don't. The gist of it is, you buy some block-off plates, rip all the PAIR/flapper crap out, install the PAIR block-off plates, plug any vacuum ports for the flapper valve, and call it a day.

I bet she would ride so much better if you put that White 8 spoke you still probably have laying around your trailor that you 'inherited' from someone else's bad judge of character.

I hope you paid Ed in full, for his sake.

It seems to me that the VFR800 community as a whole is not really interested in more power (begs the question why Honda bothered bumping up the latest model to a 1200 in the first place). I say go for it Matt, throw in some cams or something and see if you make that sucker sing. Maybe you'll end up with the fastest normally aspirated VFR800 AND VF500F!!!
