    Hey guys,

Newbie here, just got my bike and having a problem with the charging... the battery seems to be fine since i took it to the store and they tested it for me, but when i charge it all the way and go for a ride, it lasts only 30 mins then it dies. Ive been looking around and it seems that maybe its the R/R or the stator... can anyone tell me exactly how to test it?

    Thanks alot!!!

    Adam

Sooner or later (even now) you're going to need the factory shop manual, available for download on this site.

All electrical testing proceedures are clearly explained and illustrated.

There is no real test for the r/r except to see that it is or isn't charging the battery AFTER connections between r/r and stator and atop the starter relay are inspected for any melting or burning.

Stator can be tested for continuity between the 3 phases, no continuity to ground, and for AC output, which should be between about 8 AC volts at idle, rising to about 60 volts at 5-6000 rpm.
