I just had a major service done on my 95 VFR, valve adjustment, all fluids and filters changed, new brake pads front and rear, plus a new chain and spocket set.

I am taking it back to the dealer due to the following problems,

    1. Getting alot of buzzing through bars, pegs, seat, tank.

Not sure what is causing this but my feet nad hands got numb after only 75 miles whereas before the service I had no problem.

Dealer put Motul 3000 oil instead of Honda GN4 oil and used a different grade plug than stated in manual, CR8EH9 rather than CR9EH9. Could this be contrbuting to the problem or did I just get a lousy service?

    2. When I put the bike in the garage after a ride I can smell gas but there does not appear to be a leak that I can detect.

    Puzzled

    Mick

Well the answer I got back from the dealer regarding the vibration in their view is I need a new clutch!!!!

They are saying that the service probably brought this problem to the fore. They now want to charge me $481 for a new clutch.

This sounds very suspicious to me as I had no problems with the clutch before I had the major service done.

Could using Motul 3000 instead of the HP4 be contributing to the problem?

    Thanks,

    Mick

    clutch vibration

    mick-

    you could:

    1) take your bike to a different shop for another opinion

    or

    2) change your oil back to HP4 and see if the problem disappears

    or

    3) get a shop manual (invaluable) and change out the clutch yourself and save hundreds of dollars.

if your bike is a 95 and you've got a lot of miles on it, it is within the realm of reason to need a new clutch.

Check this as this has happened on more than once. and one of the symptoms is a buzzzing, Sounds like maybe the chain is to tight. easy check since there is a center stand you should have about an 1"-1.25" slop at the half way point between the two sprokets, I'd also go back to the oil you where using before, doubt that it's a clutch and doubt that it's the oil causing the problem, but for sure I'd never go back there again. Peroid!
