Has anyone who owns a 94-97 vfr had problems with their regulator/rectifier?
I heard this is a common problem and people were installing CPU fans to keep them cool. Has anyone out there done this?

    94-97 rectifier

I've seen folks use hear sinks and CPU fans. I cooked mine after 10 years. I figured that 1 problem in 10 years was not woth the effort to make rec. run cooler.

Eth, the R/R is the one typical issue with the VFR. If you do a search, you'll find lots of complaints about the R/R going bad. Happened to me too. It causes your battery to die, and it often makes your speedometer go wacky right before it goes bad. The good thing is that this is the only part that commonly goes bad on the VFR, and it's not TERRIBLY expensive to replace (couple hundred dollars last I knew).

I paid $165 USD to replace the unit on my 91VFR but it was 13 years old so not bad I guess. I thought my 98 was cooked but it turned out to be the battery not the RR unit. I priced it at $216 CDN while I was troubleshooting.

The entire excersize made me decide to install a volt meter with warning light so I don't get caught with my pants down again. Still waiting fo it to arrive so I will advise all when I get er done.

Check it out here in the lower left corner of the page.

Hey Jethro, would you be willing to take pics and write a narrative about how to install it to post on the site? Perhaps other users would benefit from the info.

Does 94-97 VFR have a fuel valve?

I know this question sounds dumb but I'm brand new to the VFR. I just bought mine and couldn't get it started. Is there a fuel valve somewhere? I bought this bike from a guy in FL and after a month for its journey to get here I thought it had just sat too long. I remember my MSF course teaching me that one of the 1st things to turn on is the fuel valve but I looked all over my VFR and couldn't find it and hence thought it didn't have one. Am I and idiot or just a newby?
