I have looked through the manual and located the switch under the seat. At 6 o'clock its says fuel, at 9 o'clock says off, and at 12 o'clock says on but doesnt say reserve anywhere. Is it an auto feature that goes into reserve when the fuel light goes on or is the switch underneath the correct one?

Nope there is no reserve. You need to pay attention to the instrument panel indication and fill er up before you run out.

Simple elegant, no reserve. When you take off tank, its as simple as turning to OFF and remove your fuel level plug on right side of engine and disconnect your fuel line and walk away with tank. When you re-install, just follow backwards. Don't forget to turn on petcock or your gona be stuck and cursing yourself for being absent minded. You really dont need reserve if you think aboot it. I did away with it on another bike and don't miss it at all, I travel well on it too. Cheers.

Today for example I went 180 miles on current tank and fuel light came on at about 160. Stopped filled it with 3.5 gallons. So if there is no reserve it would seem my guage is about 1.5ish gallons off.

Not really off, its just a low gas light, you have 1.5 gallons left or so. I believe that the tank holds 4.8 gallons? If I hit 170, I am almost going to have to push mine home. Its all relative you know, the slower you ride, the better your gas mileage. My light comes on around 110-115 miles, I usually gas up at around 100 miles or so, and rarely ride with the gas light on. I think my 91 model coud hit 160 but would be bone dry like I used to drink my martinis. Out on the road if I have to do some miles, I stop every 100 miles regardless of what I am riding.
