    Hi all
Thought i would put up a pic of my ongoing fighter project. This ha been keeping me tinkering in the shed and searching ebay for a coupe of years. I have managed to score a couple of bargains - Hi rise staintune - $100 bucks, Rear seat cowl - $50 bucks. I am getting to the stage where the next step will be some suspension upgrades in the form of 929 rear shock, gold valves and new springs in the front.
I also have a couples of issues that i am hoping i can sort out soon
1 - Poor running issue(intermittent misfire) had thought it may be electrical but have discounted that after fitting new coils, leads and redoing all wiring basically from scratch and am now thinking it may be carb problem(about to have a crack at removing and cleaning/repairing carbs) Any hints?
2 - crack in the lower frame rail(that the motor hangs in) This has been welded previously, although not very well, and has now cracked again. Crack goes about 3/4 the way up both sides of this rail but then does not get any worse. Has anyone else had this issue/ rectified this issue in the past? The crack is just behind the cast headstock as pictured in the second picture near the black cable tie.
So far all my mods have been mainly cosmetic - obvious removal of fairing, new headlight unit, bar end mirrors, Acewell speedo unit, relocation of wiring/ coils etc to hide them from view, new clutch, replacement of wheel bearings both ends.
The bike suits the way i ride and is great fun and does attract some strange looks but that is what i like.[IMG][/IMG]

You replaced the rear wheel bearing? I have the parts and after talking to people and looking at the unit, I am gona leave it alone. I did do my steering head bearings a week ago and notice a bit of a difference, nothing ground breaking mind you. How many miles on the bike? Never saw one with a buggered frame, cant see your pictures! Love the 3rd Gen bikes I gota tell you.
Cheers, have fun with your new project.-

As far as carb removal, make sure you take the entire kit off as one piece and do not seperate carbs from rack what ever you do!

Before you spend much more on it, get your frame repaired or replaced, aluminum has a way of developing catastrophic failures.

Thanks for the advice on the carbs, i was wondering if i had to seperate them or not as i didnt think i would ever get them back together. The bearings in the rear were fairly easy to do and was worth it just to get the cupful of gravel and crud out of the hub. The bike has 140000km on it and is still great to ride but the frame crack concerns me greatly, i have had one guy try to fix it but obviously didnt really know what he was doing and as such has cracked again.
