Well guys my bike is coming along got it running pretty good new battery made a world of difference. So now. What oil and filter do u guys suggest I know we all have oppinions but just wana baby the old bike all I have ever owned and really enjoyed are 80s model hondas. She has 40k on the clock and I live in east TN. And also may need a chain the bike kinda jerks on acceleration the chain is pretty rough shape is this a symtom hope its nothing major. Also what are the rubber pieces called in between rear sprocket and wheel do the need replaced? And last regular or synthetic oil? 2011-02-14_17-53-45_406.jpg

I would suggest a Honda filter but any brand but Fram will do and a good synthetic oil is best but those engines are bullet proof and would run on Wesson oil you cooked french fries in. The rubber things are called the cushion drive and only need to be replaced if worn oot.

    hello!

I say don't worry about replacing those rubber boots in the rear wheel. they are prolly good to go.

I'm also rebuilding/finishing a resto on an 86 VFR700. I would suggest that you check fork seals, R/R, and replace all fluids, including chain if you want to ride it for a while. outside of that, good luck!

A little play is normal, when worn the just come apart. You would have chunks of rubber instead of little triangles when failed. Very rare.
