I just got my 87 VFR home today and can't figure out if there's a hidden seat latch somewhere. The helmet lock (like on the 750's) doesn't seem to do it. Before I just start removing bolts, I figured I'd ask around to see if there is something I'm missing. Help? from an VFR newbie.

Unless it was modded, it should be on the helmet lock.

You have to open the lock first, then pull down on the lever behind it.

    Thanks!

I knew there was a trick to it. I just took this 87 VFR700 out for its first spin around the block. No wonder you guys like these bikes. I'm hooked! I can't wait until spring to start putting on some miles.

Buy or download an "owners manual" for the bike, then read it. You'll need the information.

I have the owners manual, I also have 4 other Vf1000 but the '86 is totally different.
