Hey guys I picked up an 87 vfr 700 over the winter and over christmas break it was warm enough to take it for a spin. The front brake ended up locking up on me going about 20 mph, sending me over the bars. Sooo i found some info about the breather hole in the master cylinder getting clogged up and not allowing the fluid to re-circulate once it heats up. My question is, where is the the breather hole actually located in the master cylinder and what do i have to do to get to it? I don't have tons of time as i can only work on it every couple weekends i come home from school so can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

My money is on the lever not allowing the piston to completely return and trapping the fluid.

Hi rs15, I don't know about the VFR breather, but my Shadow's is under a little metal flap - it kind of looks like a lolipop.

I took the whole thing apart, used compressed air in every hole to blow out the MC and I blew out the brake lines and calipers.

    It solved the problem.

the brakes do not lock up instantly, only after a mile or so once the fluid heats up. i just drained the brake fluid and it was garbage, pretty creamy and white kinda haha. I'm hoping that this is my problem.

May want to make sure the slider pins are clean and lubed. They will stick the caliper over to one side and apply pressure to the rotor.
