Hey, can anyone tell me what the stock jetting should be for a 1986 VF500F? I have a clymer manual but I really don't trust it. Currently I am running 100 mains and 38 pilots with a stock paper air filter and stock exhaust. I get horrible gas mileage (35 mpg) and it seems a tad rich to me.
    Thanks,
    Jim

My Honda shop manual says Front 95 and Rear 92.
If it makes you feel any better I get similar mileage to you (albeit with bigger Imperial Gallon). My plugs look on the rich side too.
I posted on here about it but some claim the VF500 is pretty good on mileage.
I think it mainly depends on your riding style.

    Greetings from the States!
I found my factory manual and it says the main jets should be 90 front and rear. It does not say what the pilot should be.
    I'm confused...

    We have been here before.

And just to add to the confusion I have the US Workshop manual too and I confirm with the above it does say 90 front and 90 rear in direct conflict with my EU shop manual that says 95 Front 92 rear. I'm pretty sure when I checked the carbs they were 95/92.

My US manual seesm to suggest the California version should run richer and use 95/92 so it does look like there is a mistake in the US manual and they have the standard and Calif models switched,

Well that certianly helps clear things up for the main jets. Any idea about the pilot jets?
