This may be a very foolish question, but I'm asking it anyway... Is it possible to swap a set of '86 750 heads onto my '84 vf750? My cams are pitted to shit but I love the bike, I need to do something and am just wondering if this is even possible.

I dont think it is given the later VFRs are gear driven cams while your early VF is a chain driven cam. From my understanding theres still a couple of cam suppliers for these bikes. I do recall it was mentioned shadebolt cams will regrind your stock cams to what ever profile you like. I do recall one of the suppliers that still has cams for these bikes is megacycle.

The '86 VFR750 was a complete redesign of its predecessors. I doubt that there is much of anything that would be backwards compatible.
