Hi. I am trying to adjust my float levels. Did the 9 mm thing 3 times and still off. When connecting tubes to drains the left ones are about 1/4 inch lower then the right. Bike of course level on stand. How and where should the level In the clear tubes be when carbs are installed. Or when carbs are horizontal. Thankful for any help and Input.
    Thanks

As it happens, i've done some fluid level research studies :dread: and come to the conclusion that the rear carbs levels normally sit up to 1/4" higher than the fronts on the bike.

With the cabs on a bench and level, front and rear fluid levels should be the same.

IMO, getting the 4 float settings equal is more important than any arbitrary or chosen setting within the 7-9mm range. Not easy reading float gauges to a repeatable exactitude. If i test a set of carbs, i usually get back into the float adjustments 2 or 3 times to get exactly equal levels and use the split line between carb upper and bowl as a reference point for fluid level.

The deep mystery why Honda specified a 7mm float height in one year and 9mm a year later ON THE SAME CARBS remains unanswered 30 years later. :eagerness:

May be 8mm is a good compromise, followed by some testing on the road.
