Ok, so I am a long way off from needing to make a decision, but I would like to start thinking about what to do with this bike when i finish the mechanical repairs. Id love to hear some ideas on what to do with the body. There are currently no plastics on the bike that are any good. All I have is a seat, headlight and blinkers. What have you seen that you like or should i consider finding all used original plastics to put back on? Ideas Ideas!!

Colbalt racing makes fiberglass panels to replace your damaged ones. Would like nice with those. Haven't seen any modified older VFR's that look right to me.

Either way keep us posted on your progress.

    LOLOLOL, that was funny....hot pink...

but you can go with stock (oh so STOCK)

    OR

I am going to try to fit CBR600F2 Cheetah racing fairing to an 87...got the upper faring stay just gotta weld up a bracket to get it to fit....

The NT650 frame is REALLY REALLY close in design in the VFR700, Airtech has a conversion kit for the NT650 that looks that it can be modified to fit the VFR...at which time you can use the RVF fairings or the RC30 fairings(both of which airtech sale)..but the RVFs would look better IMHO....

Please dont give up and make a street fighter out of it... talk about ugly ( IMHO ).
I would post wanted ads on this forum and others like it as well as craigslist, and slowly get the plastics at least back to stock.. other details you can probobly work out or fab. Good luck.

Dont worry Cundalini, it will have a fairing. I just wanted to hear any suggestions about alternate fairings like fatso mentioned, or just other mods or changes that I might like. I dont want it naked tho, it will stay dressed, maybe just a different suit.

I would say the best question to ask is....what other mods are you doing, are you trying to MODERNIZE IT? i would do a lot of research on the various bikes that are close in design if so...like i said CBR600f2 is a good candidate or Nt650....

if you want the classic look of the 86/87 then keep it stock.

I just love the growl of the V4, i just like the look of the newer body styles.

I will let you know with mine. I plan on what I refer to a resto-mod. I want to keep it mostly stock looking but just change the suspention to more beefy stuff (floating brakes and 17 wheels for good radial tires). I was thinking of changing the primary color from white to a nice bright aluminum silver and use candy for the red and blue with oem gold logo's Like the new 25 editions, all blue on bottom and top. Just got to decide if it will be worth it or not, LOVE that sound!! Good luck!
