My newly purchased '86 VFR700F has really droopy rear signals that flop around while riding and look like garbage. I found the stock replacements in dennis kirk but would like to go with something aftermarket. What can be used on the first gens? Pictures and links would be great. Thanks

You want something like this but make sure they have 3 wires in the front for the tunning lights and 2 in the back for flashers only.

Most any "Post" turn signals will work when replacing stock Post signals. I've been running these:

    http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-3...-Mini-Marker-Light-V-Shaped-Turn-Signals.html
    (the black/amber ones)

    and I like them.

Would like to get these - but haven't found anything on how visible they are: http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-14166/BikeMaster/Oval-Flush-Mount-Marker-Lights.html

On my last bike, I put front turn signals on the back too. Then I just ran two spliced wires from the front signals to the back. It REALLY increased my visibility at night having rear running lights.

I too had the "clearance" style of light on the back, placed on the seat cowl of my '83. Yeah, they look cool, they're even bright enough, but what I noticed was the layout of any luggage. All/any style I tried, covered the lights. I tried different location of the lights to no avail.
I installed a set of generic post style front and rear, half the length and half the lens size in the original location. Now there are no problems with my luggage.

I have the flush mount ones on the front and for the rear, you will find aftermarket ones come up every now and then on eBay.

I found flush mounts for the front and rear in a faux carbon fiber look at my local honda shop. They would have been cheaper on ebay, but add shipping and waiting time and its not worth it. Try your local shop.
