My baby is parked - hopefully temporarily. The radiator had been leaking since the start of the season and I just kept topping it off.
The leak finally annoyed me enough to motivate me to get it worked on. Took the radiator off and took it to a local radiator shop and received nothing but disappointment. The very unsympathetic shop owner even used the word "junk" when describing the radiator I handed to him. I assume he is not a vfr rider. I guess I will either haunt e-bay until a decent specimen pops up or do some research on what new radiator I can fit into an 86 vfr700.

You are probably right Normk - I remember days before cheaper foreign supply parts came along when you would get a radiator re-cored before you would replace it. I will look around for a more agreeable service shop.

It's getting harder and harder to find true radiator shops around. Sad.

Not only rad shops that are getting hard to find, I have to get some rings made for a 1956 Enfield twin because the only rings you can now get are made in India and they like everything else coming out of that country is shit but they along with China have fucked over every countrys manufacturing base so you are stuck with this sort of shit

Try ebay.co.uk or any European ebay site. Search for vfr750 rc24.
All 86-89 vfrs used the same radiator.

There's some company that makes a "performance" unit, and they regularly come up on eBay. Can't attest to their quality, but they're damn expensive!

Thermae makes some nice radiators -- http://www.thermaecooling.com/# -- My buddy has one on his Hawk. Don't know if they make one for VFRs. Website sux, you just have to click on "info" and send them a message.

I ran across this MC radiator repair shop's page. I know nothing about them. http://www.motorcycleradiators.com/

I have a parts bike with a radiator. Don't know if it's good, but can have it checked and cleaned if you're interested. $100?
