So now I have the tank together and hooked up to the feed lines but......I put fuel into the gas tank but can't get the fuel to run out the feed tube to the fuel filter and fuel pump. What's up with that.? This is a mystery to me. What am I doing wrong???? :frown: Please help.

I just restored my 87 VFR700 non California model. Mine only has 2 hoses to the tank, the left is fuel feed to the pump, right one is overflow cap drain. There's plumbing in the tank if you don't have enough fuel it may not gravity flow. I put in a new petcock mine it didn't pull fuel good on reserve due to the petcock selector seal. You should be able to blow in the fuel line and hear bubbling in the tank. I put 2 gallons in mine and jumped the pump direct to batt (blue wire to pos) and it pumped up in seconds.

How to tell if pump is working?

When the ignition is on should there be some sound form the pump?
I seem to have fuel at the pump now but not sure its pumping it up to the carbs.
I can't seem to get any spark and I don't smell any fuel.

The fuel pump does not continually pump. it only pumps once per rotation of the engine (or somethign to that effect). jump the fuel pump directly to the battery to have it continually run.
