Hey guys, quick question. I finally have time to clean the carbs on my recent aqusition. I am at the end of the first carb jets were pretty clogged. I am ready to set the float level. I do not have the honda tool, but figure a dial caliper should do fine. where in the carb body should i measure from to what spot on my float? the book says i should measure 0.24 in. Once i get the first one set and the bowl back on the other 3 should go fast. I should be firing it up tommorow eve to see how she runs after the carb cleaning.

You're right, you can use a caliper to measure the float height. You're going to want to tilt the carb assy so that the tang on the float just BARELY seats on the needle, where you will then measure the distance from the carb body (the flat part where the float cover gasket would seat if the cover was on) to the very topmost part of the float furthest away from the carb body (the black little bobber). When I did the adjustment on my 500, I used jaws of the caliper meant for measuring inner diameters, it was easier to maneuver the tool and also get one jaw flush-flat with the carb body and get it really close to the side of the float to better notice the height difference between the caliper jaw and the float.

Unfortunately since V-Four carbs are kinda awkward in their orientation compared to I-Fours, you can't do a more accurate fuel level check (that I know of), but float height adjust alone should do it. Best of luck.
