86 rear caliper hanging up after new pads

    Rear caliper freezing up.... any help? Any luck rebuilding these calipers? I have an 86 700 interceptor

    You may want to check the pads and make sure they are inserted properly. The next step is to observe the pistons to see if they move when you activate the brake pedal. If the pistons are hanging up then, yes you will have to redo the piston seals. It can be a pain, but not impossible.

    yes when the pistons are out for so long with pads that have low life sometimes the cylinders will tend to rust if theres mosture or the piston was really dirty and when there are compressed back in they will hang up, so ether change the caliper or take it apart and see if you can rebuild it. you will need to use compressed air to get them apart sometimes and check the cylender bore for rust pit ?, i will look and see if i have a good used one.

    The slider pins that allow the caliper to float may need cleaning and some grease......
