Hello, I have two questions....First, I'll be mounting some CBR F2 wheels in the near future. For the rear brakes the normal route seems to be to take the VFR caliper bracket and cut and weld it to bring the VFR caliper over the smaller diameter CBR rotor. I don't really like that idea...Would it be possible to use the CBR calipers by milling off the portion the registers in the CBR swingarm and then making up a new torque strut to mount to one of the caliper mounting points? I don't want to cut the VFR bracket because, as a cast part, I don't think I'd rest to easy about the structural integrity of the weld, and it would look too much like a cheesy hack job anyway. My second question concerns the fork tub spacing of the F2 forks relative to the early 90's fork tubes, and also the fender mounting points. Basically, I want to use the fender off a 90-93 VFR750 because it looks a WHOLE lot better than the CBR fender. Will it work? Thank you for your help! Rick
yeah you can...if you do a search of "Supertex Build" you can see he went that same way. as well as a few others, i know i did cause it was a lot easier to use CBRf2 caliper, just gotta get the spacers right cause the CBRF2 is "thinner' than VFRs. as far as spacing and fender not sure on options..i just used cbrf2 and plan to take a dremel to it and modify it.
Not sure aboot the front fender fitting but here is a link to the caliper mod on Tex's bike, it is pretty simple. The caliper holder was trimmed slightly to clear the arm but it is a simple and quick way to mount it. http://vfrworld.com/forums/1st-2nd-generation-1983-1989/25979-supertex-build.html
Thank you for the link, it showed me exactly what I was hoping to see. Another possibility is to just make a new caliper mounting plate from scratch, but of course that's a lot of work when all you to work with are hack-saws, a drill, and some files:tongue:
