85 vf700 - Thermostat Simple Question

    When the thermostat goes out on these older VF's do they overheat like a old car (Chevy Ford) or do they just run hot/bad etc..like a newer one (More like a SAAB)
    I need to replace mine, as the bike has not been in service for years and I don't trust old parts. Any suggestions on replacement?
