I just got my kids vf500 running again and 1 of the things both my boys pointed out while I was working on it was how hard it was to read the numbers on both the speedo and tach. I didn't think much of it till I took it out for a ride for the first time today and they were right. My oldest is color blind as it is but it was difficult for me to read the numbers as well so I pretty much guessed my speed and hoped I didn't pass a cop. My question is does anyone have a scanned template of the gauge faces so that we can basically print out a new one? The faces have a black background with red #'s that aren't clearly visible and it's not because they're dirty, there simply isn't enough contrast between the 2 colors to make it clear to see so I was thinking of a black background with white #'s or the other way around.

Are all the bulbs new and working in the gauge cluster?

I know this is going to sound ignorant but I don't know whether the lights in the clusters are working but my guess is no. I literally just got it road worthy for the first time today and being this is the first time I've messed with an Interceptor, I have no clue what to expect in regards to the gauge cluster but you may be on to something. I followed my 17 year old on our CB350 and noticed that the tail lights worked but brake lights didn't. We went ahead and replaced both bulbs in the tail light but brake light still wont work at all. I don't know if the lights for the cluster and the brake lights share a common circuit and I still have to look over the electrical schematic but it wouldn't surprise me if they do share a common circuit and that may be the culprit.

Yep the backlights for the gauge cluster are working but it don't help much in bright sunlight. Yeah I know I should've already known whether the backlights were working but cut me some slack and keep your laughter to a minimum.:)

Excellent Mobtown. My computer whiz 19 year old says that's exactly what he needs to use as a template in a graphics program of his. As far as the brake light problem, that turned out to be a sticky rear brake switch that needed a shot of PB blaster worked into it and the front brake switch had dirty contacts in which I used a healthy dose of spray electronic contact cleaner.
