Hey VFR world, I decided to start my own thread. My bike began its life as a slightly modified 1985 vf500f interceptor. The guy that I got it from was a buddy of mine. When je had it we had made a 4-1 custom header ti a supertrap muffler. The rear wheel is a 5.5 inch wide by 18 inches tall. I am not sure what it came off of or maybe whoever had it before my friend had it widened I'm not sure. The paint scene was not original when my friend got the bike so he painted it this color. Other than that, the bike is pretty much original. Hope y'all like it

Any close up pictures of the custom header?

I really didn't like the way it looked so I was going to go with the whole streetfighter theme. I took the front fairing off and chopped the tail section and then tucked the tail light under the seat. I lowered the frontend about an inch and a half and changed the pitch of my clip-ons. I had a 12" extension arm that I made for my other bike that I got rid of so I tried it out but it will need some modifying to fit right but I got it to work for the picture. I was going to buy a fork mounted streetfighter fairing from eBay but not too sure.

The streetfighter was not going the way I wanted it so a friend of mine gave me some fairings from his 07 gsxr 750. I then started fitting them and WOW they they look great. The front fairing fitment went ok the first time but I had to move it the gsxr upper stay bracket forward about an inch and a half an then it was perfect. The stay bracket was able to be mounted to the original mount on the neck. Now the tail piece had to be cut down a lot to get to mount flush to the original side plastics. But with a little elbow grease I got it to work perfectly. Here are some more pics

Now these are the most recent photos. I wanted to do a custom paint job so I did a checkerboard scheme and I thought it came out pretty sweet looking. This past week I made a custom seat pan for it all I have left on it is to pad and skin it. I also got the oem speed/tach gauges mounted. I drilled and tapped two spots on the upper triple clamp that matched perfectly to the factory holes on the speedometer.

I'll post more pics when I get home. Including close ups of the custom exhaust. Sorry slowbird I just haven't had time post those pics I've been working a lot.

The swing arm extension is not going back on because I will be making a new one for three reasons. 1) I like the look of long swingarms. 2) it will allow me to put a bigger tire on like a 180 or 190 (I have a 160 on now). 3) it will also give me room to run my exhaust pipe through it to run my exhaust under the seat. My previous job was working at a metal fab shop so I have a CNC plasma cutter, welders, an iron worker, tubings benders, and a huge press so I'll pretty much be able to build it how I want it.

Hey does anyone know what the valve clearance is supposed to be on my 85 vf500. I've never done a valve adjustment on a v four engine. Is it any different from Honda car engine. I've done them many time on my 97 civic with a b20b engine. Any input would be helpful, thanks

Well guys here is an update on my bike. Last night I picked up my exhaust so tonight I'm going over to my buddys shop and fab it up under the seat and then start to build my custom swing arm. And then I'll finish up bracing the tail section & some odds and ends. I'll post pics later
