Hello all, long time observer, first time post.

I've got an 85 Interceptor and wanted to know...

Are the aluminum brace bars under the back seat area necessary? I sure as hell don't want to hit a bump and have the back of the seat fold down into the rear wheel!!! The bike is very clean, but in no way stock. I want to remove them for a "cleaner" look.

Are you talking about the ones on the sides that the turn signals attach to? If so, no you don't need them. In fact, I'm leaving mine off when I get to putting everything back together

Yep, those are the ones. They look strong enough, and they triangulate the area, as if they were structural. However the frame looks strong enough on it's own. I've researched but could not find anything.

I did not want to remove them, cut off the mounting tabs, then find out I opened a can of worms.

Does anyone know what the aluminum bars are for?

It does not make sense for a manufacture to spend money on additional parts unless... Did Honda offer factory style saddle bags or something that attached to them?

Besides mounting the turn signals, reflectors and helmet lock, they are places to grab the bike that isn't bodywork, like when using the center stand.
