Pic's in the introduction page for the progress up to that point. Got my new tires today and got them mounted. Picked up a set of BT-45's

    BT 45s.jpg
I have to take them in for balancing before they go back on the bike.

Once they are on the bike I can get the exhaust put back on and a few more things.

Got the bike 90% done just have to black chrome the tail pipes, order a new Chain and gear set, order a new seat cover and a few other small things.

Didn't think I could like that color, but somehow it's working on that bike. Black out the frame (and anything else) and it would really contrast nicely. Good job.

I like it. You made it your own and it came out nice. May I suggest before you clear, at least put a Honda wing/badge on the tank. Bikes always look incomplete without something on the tank or panels. I'm liking the silver exhaust. It goes with the frame and wheel edges nicely.

Yep... All black version of original Honda wing on tank. Maybe the VF500F for the side covers in all black as well.

Yeah was going with some custom black pin striping and was thinking of an all black bird on the tank. I'll leave off any "500" badges and get the standard "that's a nice 750" like I did with my old bike. As for the exhaust yeah it looks ok but I like how the black blends with the engine and the wheels will stand out more.

On my 500, the vacuum line from the fuel valve goes to the vacuum port on the LH carburetor. The other nipple on the fuel valve is an air vent, should be open to atmosphere. Could be that someone has converted the fuel valve to gravity feed only.

you nailed it, they took out the spring and reversed the diaphram so it's gravity fed. The only vacuum port I have is the on on #1 Cyl where the balance screw goes and it's blocked off with a vacuum nipple. Guess I'll leave it the way it is for now unless it causes problems. Thanks for the feed back.

Been finishing up the paint and bodywork, have the final coat of paint to do and then clear and polish. Tank is all done except for the Honda Bird on it. Found a all black bird from another early 80's bike and I've ordered them.

    Tank Cleared.jpg
Pic of the Tank all polished out.

This would seem like a good place to ask how to remove the upper fairing.

I've got a 1984 VF500FII with the full UK upper and lower fairing. The lower comes off fine. I've removed the shoulder bolts as advised by the FSM but I just can't figure out how to remove the upper fairing. I'm guessing the upper fairing is the same as the US spec model?

All help very greatly appreciated...it's cheesing me right off :-(

Should be 2 screws under the headlight holding the top to the frame work. There is 2 rubber line up bushings that are a pain to get the fairing off of. Just pull straight away from the headlight and they should let go of the fairing. The none FII has the 2 screws under the light, 2 Screws on small brackets on the frame just below the gas tank. After those are off you pull the fairing forward and they will come off the rubber bushings with a little force.
