radiator fans wont kick in but turn freely. i was thinking of hardwiring them to the main ignition feed so they are always running when the bike is on. suggestions?

In my experience (with autos) having the fan on all the time leads to overcooling, which isn't what you want, especially during warm-up. A manual switch wouldn't be a bad way to go, but you'd have to constantly keep an eye on your temp. Have you checked the switch?

damn cheapest i can find is 84 bucks. ill just take my $25 switch that was going to go into my trans ams cooling system and use that instead it kicks on the fans at 190 degrees and should be fine for the bike with a thread adapter.

Also check to make sure the ignition switch has 6 pins and not 5. The 83 switch has 5 cause they powered the fans differently that 84 and later.
