I am considering selling my extra carbs and brand new boots. The carbs are still mounted on the plate and are very clean. The chrome caps are in very good shape with very little pitting. Slides, etc. show little wear. I would include a second set of slides from another carb set that I have that the dumb-dumb PO removed from the plate. Heck, I will throw in those carbs too. I spent an hour with a piece of wire and compressed air cleaning the jets and blowing everything out the other day.

Those of you with 86's: the 84-85 carbs on your bike is a popular mod. Due to the larger size users experience increased upper mid-range and top-end power.

Also included would be brand new insulators (boots) that I just bought from the dealer and still packaged except one that I opened.

I want to gauge interest here before I make up my mind on a price. What do you think is reasonable and is anyone here interested. I can post some pictures on the weekend.

    Thanks for the post.

Are these from an '84 or an '85 VF500F?

Good question. They have the 102/105 main jets so they are 1984. I don't know why Honda leaned out the main jets for the next two years because it appears that the 102/105 is a better set-up. I only have one set of pilot and main jets though. The PO had taken them out of one of the sets of carbs and did who knows with them.

Here are some pictures. I am selling both sets of carbs and the new boots pictured here. Invisible Cities has first dibs at $100 for everything, but if he changes his mind I will open it up for others.

The '86 has different part numbers for the carb boots - 16211-MF2-711 vice 16211-MJ8-000. So how does that work out? Are the '86 larger or smaller at the boot? Are the intakes (at the head) the same size for all years?

The head side of the boots are the same on both, at least judging by how they fit onto the heads and by eyeballing them. The difference is the smaller diameter on the carb side of the boot for the 86 version. This is visually noticeable.

I am replacing my old carb boots on my '86, part number 16211-MF2-711, and the new parts have a smaller outside diameter, about 3mm, so my old clamps bottom out, meaning they never get tight and do any clamping. Any idea of another OEM clamp part number that would be a little smaller and do the job?
