84-85 500 gas tank interchangable with other model?

    I have an 84 500 and the tank has two 1/4" hols in it. Im having problems finding good tanks for the 500. Will a tank from a 700, 750, or 1000 fit?

    no they will not fit sorry..... speaking from Experience. the mounting holes don't line up. try bikeboneyard.com got mine for 50 from them. it was in pretty good shape. shipping took alittle.
