I have a 1983 750 interseptor that starts right away and idles very well but bowgs down at about 2000rpm. The bike has 28000 miles on it and I rebuilt the carbs. At first I thought it was a vacuum leak and verified the intake tubes were properly seated. Also, the compression in each cylinder is within specs. When the engine bogs down it sounds as if it is choking out. I had to replace the pulse generators as well as the starter clutch. The engine timing is within specs. All four mixture screws have been replaced and initialy set at 2.5 turns. The problem is that the rpm rises as I backed off each screw until they backed off all the way out and the rpm stays high. I'm running out of ideas, I hope someone can help....Thank you,....Adam
Before you change the pilot screw setting, you need to do a carb sync. Then mess with the pilot screws. This will improve your understanding of tuning your carbs: Carburetors/Tuning - SabMagFAQ (especially read the links at the bottom) P.S. How did you clean the carbs?
